May 17th “Goin’ Fishin’”
In North Texas we don't see the ocean much but we do know one way we can explore INTO THE DEEP… at our local fishin’ hole!! Show off your best fishin’ gear on Saturday, May 17th for a chance at winning the Best Angler award! Click to see theme day rules!
Costume Guidelines:
Costumes must be family-friendly and appropriate for the event setting.
Fishing gear should be non-functional for safety purposes (e.g., no real hooks, knives, or other sharp objects).
Outfits should be comfortable and suitable for movement, as participants may need to walk or move around the event.
No heavy props that could obstruct movement or become hazardous to others (e.g., oversized fishing rods or bulky gear).
Safety First:
All costumes must allow for safe interaction with other participants (no obstructing vision or movement).
Footwear must be closed-toe, non-slip, and appropriate for walking around the venue.
No waterproof or wet materials that could create slipping hazards in the event area.
Eligibility:
Teams must arrive at Pit Admin by 1:05 PM on May 17th to be considered for the award.
All costume participants must be part of a FIRST team registered for the event.
Judging Criteria:
Judges will evaluate based on creativity, authenticity, and team spirit.
Participants should be prepared to stand in front of judges from 1:15PM - 1:30 PM for evaluation.
Timing and Announcements:
Winners will be announced during a break later in the day.
No late entries will be accepted after 1:15 PM.
May 18th - Cowboys and Tiaras
Tiara day is an important theme day at the FIRST Championship and we want to honor it in our own way with a Cowboys and Tiara day! Wear your cowboy hat or your tiara or both!!
Special Awards
Best Angler
This award will go to the individual who is considered best dressed for the fishing theme day. Click to see the guidelines for this award
